Legend of Zelda Satchel–The completed project and the reaction

Sorry for the overdue posting. I got a really bad sinus infection. (So much for my English skills) I’m still recovering… still crafting… still teaching… But here’s the reaction of my latest project I mentioned in the previous two postings. (See the first one here, See the second on here) 😀

Wow! x45x really liked his Legend of Zelda bag. He’s gonna use it for his Lapras Pokemon water bottle. 🙂 It fit perfectly in it.  I got a super big hug for this creation. He was in total shock. That’s hard to do for a gamer, who has tons of awesome memorabilia of  classic Nintendo characters. I always hunt for the coolest patterns. 🙂

Here are some pictures of the final project:

He’s getting ready to stream, so you gotta go see all the action. Go to Twitch.tv/x45x for the latest video gaming broadcast. Tell him I sent you! I’m lovebird122107. He’ll stream until about 9pm EST tonight. 🙂 Obviously he’s one of my favorite people. lol

Later, I’ll post my newest Kirby. 🙂 Not one Kirby looks alike. I’m not sure how to get around that issue yet. Practice makes perfect!

Happy crafting and enjoy a little video gaming on this first day of summer!

Working on my own pattern

Hi, folks.. I finished the Legend of Zelda bag for my best friend and gamer, x45x. He hasn’t come over to get his presents yet. 😦 He’s been spending about 8 hours a day streaming all his favorite games. (Find him on Twitch after 4pm everyday) Twitch.tv/x45x

Right now, I got a slight cold, but I thought I’d drop a line or two to tell you about my latest project. Since I made the fore-mentioned bag above, I learned the Tunsian or Afghan crochet stitch. This stitch is awesome, because it is closely related to knitting. I have yet to get the hang of knitting. I tried a few weeks ago, but it was to no avail.  Anyway, I decided I need to crochet hook case more my long tunsian needles. I’m in the process of learning a few things, but I’m going to make this really pretty case with a flower on it. I’m going to use the normal tunsian stitch, knit-stitch and, possibly the puff stitch for the flowers. I’ve drawn the items on graph paper and trying to see how I can do with this made up pattern. It’s my first made up pattern.

the next thing I’m going to make is my companies mascot, Dino the VIPKID  dinosaur. I can’t wait to see what to do with him. I’m going to have to really think long and hard how to make him. 🙂 I guess I can steal parts from Baymax and Yoshi to create him. 🙂

I’ll try to post my patterns on my Ravelry page soon.

So nice to give you an update on my crafts. See you soon!

Tunisian Crochet Triforce Drawstring Pouch *Pattern*

Today, I found this really cool bag from ZELDA. I believe I’m going to try to make this for my best friend and gamer, xfourtyfivex. He’s going to be so surprised I can make and have mastered such an interesting stitch. Here’s a tid-bit of what the bag will look like. Enjoy the post and I totally give credit due to the original designer. This is awesome. I only hope mine will be just as awesome.

Alligator Creator

I finally got around to making a second pouch present and this one is The Legend of Zelda themed with a triforce pattern. This one incorporates three Tunisian crochet panels. So, if you aren’t familiar with Tunisian crochet, you can learn how to do basic Tunisian crochet here and you can see some tips for changing colors here.

What you will need:
-Light green yarn (LGY)
-Dark green yarn (DGY)
-Yellow yarn (YY)
-Crochet hook
-Yarn needle
-Scissors

I chose Marks & Kattens Flox  yarn with a size D/3-3.25mm Boye hook. The yellow yarn I used was Marks & Kattens Bianca, though, just because I had some to spare. This pouch ended up about 10 in (25.4cm) in length.

Other abbreviations:
R – round(s)
c – chain(s)
slst – slip stitch(es)
sc – single crochet(s)
dc – double crochet(s)
st – stitch(es)

R1 – With LGY make…

Quick, Easy, and Inexpensive Flowers

Have any of you ever wanted to make something really fast and simple that will make people go WOW!! Recently, in my crafting research between my business up keep and my new online ESL teaching job, I started making tissue paper flowers.

Here are the supplies you will need:

  1. Tissue Paper ( I got a bunch of it for a dollar at Dollar Tree)
  2. Decorative Pipe Cleaners ( you can get these almost anywhere like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart)
  3. Scissors

If you know how to fold a paper fan, that technique is what you will need to know.

Put several layers of tissue paper down, preferably 4+. It can be any size of tissue paper; super tiny squares or the entire sheet. Fold it in sections (1 inch or 2 inches for a large flower, 1/2 an inch for a small one, etc) opposite of each other until you reach the end.

Now place the pipe cleaner in the middle of the “fan”. Now with your scissors cut out any design (pointed or curved) on the edges to even out the flower. Fan out the sides. It should sort of look like a bow tie at this point. lol 😀 Now lift up and fluff  each and every layer of tissue paper. Work one side at a time.

Once you are done, you should have something that looks like this.

My best friend thought they were shower poofs at first, when he quickly saw them in a similar picture, but he soon could see they were flowers. lol. They look more awesome in person. Plus, I found matching colored pipe cleaners. That was pretty cool!

These are great for gifts or for decorations. Just be careful not to get them wet, because they will disintegrate very easily.

Hope you enjoy this little craft for spring and Easter! See you soon with more great crafts!

Coming up this week

Hi, folks. I have some exciting happenings this week. Along with my Etsy store, I’m also creating two other locations where you can purchase my products. On Instagram you can find my store site at Inselly.com/GabisWhatKnotsandMore and also I’m setting up another location where you can shop multiple products at once. 🙂 At this another site you can also donate monies to some great charities and get some cool gifts too. 🙂 This other store will be up soon. I’m in the process of working on the pictures for the products. Gotta get the right lighting. 🙂

In addition, to my crocheted creatures I’m also making a pretty seed bead necklace. 🙂 It’s a work in progress, but I’ll be finishing that up sometime later this week. I’ll post some pictures here and on my Instagram site for you to see. 🙂 Then if it is worthy, I’ll post it for sale. 🙂

Anyway, I hope you are having a great superbowl evening. And stay on the look out for my awesome products and stores. 🙂

These guys are ready to go home and be adopted into your family today!

Here are my critters… :-)

I’m so happy to share with you my new critters. I posted them on Instagram for my followers, who are becoming a lot of spammers. (That is annoying!) I know it is late but I have to share these with you. I love my critters and my brother and best friend (who is in Finland I’m sure playing Smash Bros on Wii U, shout out to x45x) loved them.

Here’s Baymax.. He’s tiny and cute. Ian loved him. 🙂

Then there’s bulbasaur. He’s seriously tiny. Tinier than I thought he’d be. I found the pattern on Ravelry and I want to thank Nicole’s Nerdy Knots for the pattern.

My #bulbasaur #mini #amigurumi. So happy!!! #itsforchristmas I love him he's cute…

At this point, I’m feeling pretty serious about crafting and crocheting these critters. I’ve been doing them for almost a year and I really love them. I’ve opened an Etsy store, but I don’t get many customers. I’m thinking about maybe going into town to see if the Gifted Child would be interested.  It’s a possibly if I could sell these things I’d make big money. 🙂

Let me know what you all think.
